Today a whirlwind,
      a maelstrom of minutes
      rushing past me
      with no compassion

for my aching need to see you.

Tasks piled skyward
      until their shadows darkened
      the sunlit thoughts
      of you in my mind.

Yet they never drifted far.

I swam through infinite hours,
  submerged in ocean's duties,
only popping up for a breath

  that softly whispered your name.

Silence in the inbox so heavy,
                    like lead,
                 weighed down
     by all the things unsaid,
                     unshared,
         moments we wish were,
                  but weren't.

Yet, amidst the din,
     an ember glows,
     a hope that tomorrow
     will pull us together

     like magnets at trivia night.

Time may have its
     grasp today,
     but my thoughts
     saunter to you,
     filling spaces,

     voided moments.

C U Soon,

In letters large and
               small—

my heart braces for the sound of your voice.
