Even when I close the laptop,
             kill the lights,
      tuck the day behind me—

You’re still there,
       humming behind everything.

Not loud,
    not flashing—
    just presence.

Persistent.

A background service
  with no scheduled downtime,
              no quiet hours,

no kill switch I’d ever use.

Even when we’re quiet,
     you’re still running—
     gentle loop,
     heartbeat app,

     always logging, always live.

You pop up through idle moments:
    brushing teeth,
    waiting for coffee to brew,
standing too long at a red light…

    your signal pinging without fail.

Sometimes it feels
    like the whole stack’s rebooted—
    calendar cleared,
    brain reset,

    and still—

    there you are.

Not a distraction,
    not a bug,
    not even a task.

Just the constant:
the part of me that doesn’t need input to keep going.

Always on.

Always you.
